2002 - 2004 Statistics

M. E. Brittain (Warthill, York)

SUMMARY OF APPROACH TO 2YO RACING :-
  • Small stable notable in the 1980s and early 90s for success with older sprinters and with early season  2yo winners. Stable has had small 10 2yo runners in period 2002-4 (no 2yo runner in 03) and most have been cheaply bought at sales. Many ere trainer owned.
  • The stable has not specifically targeted early season winners in the last three years. The majority of runners only run 1-3 times and only the obvious 2yo types in 2004 ran beyond 3TO.
  • Debut runs are competent and probably around 10lb below the runner's best rating.
  • FTO SP shows no correlation with FTO performance nor overall ability. All debut SPs in 2004 were 33/1 or higher and all were unplaced. The debut winner in 2002 was 11/1 when finishing second (awarded race months later on drug related disqualification of the winner) in a division of a traditionally weak Beverley auction race.
